The more electric vehicles there are in Australia, the more likely private companies are to provide charging stations in rural locations according to Siemens-Swinburne Energy Transition Hub’s Director Professor Mehdi Seyedmahmoudian.
“So the more electric vehicles that we have in Australia, there will be a better justification for private companies to jump in and provide charging stations in rural areas,” he told Sky News Australia.
“Even with that, there are some challenges that we are foreseeing and predicting in the next five years – the main challenges in front of electric vehicle charging mechanism is the charging time.
“As you know in 2018, we had around three hours charging time but we are actually now seeing in some of the companies like Tesla cars, in 15 minutes you can actually charge around 200 miles of charge.”
