A ute that was stolen from Mooroopna was later used in a petrol drive-off in Shepparton, according to police.

Mooroopna police Senior Constable Steven Turpin said the owner of the Mitsubishi Triton ute parked his vehicle outside the Mooroopna Bowling Club at 2.15pm on Tuesday, March 15 while he went to do some work at the back of the club.

When he returned an hour later, the dark charcoal-coloured ute was gone.

Sen Constable Turpin said the ute was later used in a petrol drive-off at a service station in Shepparton about 3.10pm the same day, where almost $100 of petrol was put into it but not paid for.
