A mum in Perth’s southern suburbs has been bashed outside a service station by a stranger armed with a hammer as she screamed for help.

Rockingham mother Fiona was allegedly assaulted by a stranger in the early hours of Saturday morning outside a 7/11 service station on Dixon Road.

She suffered a broken arm and head injuries, telling 9News the attacker ambushed her as she waited to buy a bottle of water from the service station.

“I was on the ground, I just kept on pleading with him and telling him I had kids and that I couldn’t die,” she said.

A worker at the 7/11 is understood to have kept the doors locked to the service station as Fiona screamed for assistance after being beaten down four times.

“He’s come out with a wooden stake… and it got my chest and all that, then I’d seen him with a knife,” the mother said, from a bed at Royal Perth Hospital.

“I was just screaming at her (7/11 attendant) ‘let me in, let me in, please, he’s not even here, just let me in’,” she said.

Fiona then ran to nearby bushes awaiting police after motorists failed to offer assistance.

She received stitches for severe lacerations and required surgery for her broken arm.
