Signage at a petrol station in Tasmania’s north-west has gone up in flames due to an electrical fault.

The Tasmania Fire Service say the United signage on top of the canopy at the Shearwater petrol station was the source of the fire.

Emergency crews from Devonport, Latrobe and Port Sorell were called to the scene at around 1:30pm on Wednesday and have since successfully extinguished the blaze.
