A man has been arrested amid a police investigation into a terrifying robbery where the perpetrator wore a disturbing clown mask.

Chilling CCTV footage captured a man wearing the garish disguise robbing a service station in Holland Park in south Brisbane on December 29.

As the man enters the Cavendish Rd service station at 7.30pm, he can be seen brandishing what appears to be a gun at an employee.

The footage captures him leaning over the counter and grabbing the entire cash till before running off into the night.

On Saturday, Queensland Police revealed a 39-year-old man had been charged with armed robbery over the incident.

‘Following investigations, including information provided by members of the public, detectives yesterday attended a Mount Gravatt East address where they arrested a 39-year-old man,’ police said in a statement.

‘He has been charged with one count of armed robbery and is due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court today.’

The employee was not harmed during the incident.

The masked man had been described as having a slim build with long dark hair.
