Two children were in the back seat when the young man allegedly stole a woman’s car.
A young Queensland man has been charged over an alleged robbery and the kidnapping of two young children on Christmas Day.
Police allege the 20-year-old Capalaba man assaulted a 26-year-old woman and attempted to steal her car from a service station on City Road in Beenleigh just before 5pm on December 25, before a passerby intervened.
A short time later, police allege he approached a different parked car at a separate service station on the same road.
The 26-year-old female passenger got out of the car, and the man allegedly drove off, with two young children in the back seat.
The two children were found unharmed a short time later at a service station in Cornubia, about a 10-minute drive from where the car was taken.
Both women sustained minor injuries.
The 20-year-old was charged with kidnapping and assault.
He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.
