Freedom Fuels today confirmed a strategic enhancement to its Brisbane supply arrangements as part of a broader initiative to strengthen its East Coast fuel supply chain and further improve outcomes for its wholesale customers.
Following an extensive commercial review and discussions with the terminal owner, Freedom Fuels has elected not to extend its tenure at the Quantem Pinkenba Terminal beyond January 2026.
From 1 February 2026, the business will continue supplying customers in Southeast Queensland and across the East Coast through a diversified portfolio of third-party terminals, under long-term, competitive supply agreements.
These arrangements will increase Freedom’s operational flexibility and capacity, strengthening its ability to deliver reliable supply at competitive prices.
Freedom Fuels CEO Mark McKenzie said the decision reflects the company’s increased focus on ensuring long-term supply security, reliability, and value for its wholesale customers in an evolving fuel market.
“This is a deliberate and forward-looking decision that strengthens our supply chain and enhances our capacity to serve wholesale customers reliably and competitively.
“By expanding and diversifying our terminal access, we are reducing concentration risk, improving supply resilience, and positioning Freedom Fuels to consistently deliver secure fuel supply at competitive prices, both now and into the future,” said Mark.
Freedom Fuels has operated successfully across multiple terminals in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria for many years, and has been actively trialling third-party terminal logistics in Southeast Queensland since September 2025 in preparation for the change.
“For delivery customers, there will be no change to service levels, product quality, ordering processes, or key contacts.
“Our customers will continue to be supplied by Freedom Fuels, invoiced by Freedom Fuels, and supported by the same experienced team,” Mark said.
Customers who currently collect fuel from Pinkenba will transition to alternative terminals, with Freedom Fuels working closely with each customer to ensure a seamless changeover.
The decision also supports Freedom’s broader growth strategy, with the company setting its sights on expanding its footprint, investing in its people, and building a resilient supply network capable of navigating market volatility and delivering supply chain efficiency.
“Freedom Fuels is growing, and our commitment to wholesale customers remains unwavering.
“We are focused on what matters most: dependable supply, operational certainty, and competitive pricing. These changes strengthen our ability to deliver on that promise,” concluded Mark.
Freedom Fuels will continue engaging directly with customers over the coming months to provide clarity, support, and confidence ahead of the February 2026 transition.
