bp pulse has started construction on what will become its first large‑scale electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in Australia, located within the Melbourne Airport precinct and scheduled for completion in 2026. The project marks a significant step in the company’s effort to expand EV charging access across key transport corridors and high‑traffic destinations.
The hub will feature 24 bays equipped with 150kW and 300kW chargers, including two accessible bays and drive‑through options for larger vehicles. According to bp pulse, the development will support the growing demand for EV charging around one of the country’s busiest transport hubs.
Antoine Denis, General Manager of bp pulse Australia, said the initiative builds on the company’s rapid network expansion since 2022. “Now, with the backing of over 41,000 bp pulse charging bays across the world, we’re leveraging our global EV charging expertise to bring bp pulse’s first large-scale charging hub to Australia,” he said.
Melbourne Airport sees around 34,000 vehicles pass through its precinct daily. The new site aims to provide reliable charging options for rideshare and commercial drivers, travelers, and local residents. It will also give Uber drivers who use EVs access to bp pulse’s existing Uber EV charging discount.
