Nearly 700,000 Western Australians have claimed the state’s $100 Fuel Support Payment since applications opened on 1 July.
More than $62 million in approved payments has been directed to WA households, with eligible motorists given until 31 December 2026 to submit a claim.
The one-off payment is available to eligible learners, provisional, full and extraordinary driver’s licence holders.
How can motorists claim the payment?
Most applications have been submitted through the ServiceWA app, which the WA Government says remains the fastest way to claim.
A dedicated 24-hour support line and email service are available for people requiring assistance with the app.
ServiceWA digital assistance kiosks are also operating in Perth and Bunbury, providing in-person help with the application process and setting up a digital identity.
Drivers who cannot or do not want to use the app can submit a claim through alternative channels, including an online form.
About 42,500 paper claims have been lodged, with those applications expected to take up to eight weeks to process.
Who is eligible?
The Fuel Support Payment is available to eligible Western Australian driver’s licence holders.
That includes learner and provisional drivers, as well as people holding extraordinary licences.
The payment can be used by motorists facing fuel costs associated with work, education, family transport and other daily travel.
Treasurer and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the scheme was providing direct assistance to motorists.
“Whether you’re driving the kids to school, commuting to work, university, or TAFE, this $100 will help ease the pressure at the pump,” Saffioti said.
How much has been donated?
More than 3,000 Western Australians have chosen to donate their payments rather than receive the money directly.
Those donations have directed $337,500 to participating charities supporting people experiencing financial hardship.
Premier Roger Cook said the response reflected strong community support.
“The fact that more than 3,000 Western Australians have chosen to donate their payment to those in need is a reflection on the generosity of the people of this great State,” Cook said.
What other support is available?
The Fuel Support Payment forms part of more than $1 billion in cost-of-living measures included in the 2026-27 WA State Budget.
From 20 July, families will also be able to use ServiceWA to claim the WA Student Assistance Payment.
That program will provide $150 for eligible kindergarten and primary school students and $250 for high school students.
Other programs accessible through the app include the Treebate initiative, which offers rebates of up to $150 for planting a native tree.
The WA Tree Recovery Program also provides a $150 rebate towards replacing trees removed because of the Polyphagous shot-hole borer.
Applications for Kids Access All Areas vouchers, which help families buy tickets to children’s cultural activities, are expected to reopen in August.
Eligible motorists who have not yet claimed the Fuel Support Payment have until the end of the year to apply.
