A huge congratulations to the Purtill Group on their outstanding win at the Australian Fuel and Convenience Awards, taking home the prestigious Marg Taylor Community Spirit Award!

This recognition highlights their unwavering commitment to supporting the communities in which they operate, a value that has been a cornerstone of their business with Ampol for 50 years. As Neville Purtill humbly said, “The award is not why we do what we do to support our community, but it is great to be acknowledged.”

This well-deserved accolade is a testament to their family’s legacy of community engagement and the strong partnership they’ve built with Ampol. Here’s to the Purtill Group’s continued success in driving both business and community spirit!

Australian Fuel and Convenience Awards
These awards are designed to recognise fuel and convenience businesses (retailers and suppliers) and fuel supply businesses (distributors and wholesalers) that are making tangible contributions to the quality and future viability of the fuel and convenience industry in Australia.

The awards celebrate the best in the industry in compliance excellence, safe and healthy workplaces, championing innovation, sustainability and community spirit.

What is the Marg Taylor Community Spirit Award?
The Marg Taylor Community Spirit Award is designed to recognise those businesses that have quietly gone that ‘extra yard’ in supporting the communities in which they operate.

These businesses typically don’t make a fuss about what they do, but they work to support community organisations, sporting clubs and charitable works within their communities. They are often the businesses that stand up when their communities are in greatest need.

Nominees were to demonstrate what their business does, or has done, in respect of community engagement. Examples include community sponsorships, financial and other assistance to community groups and service providers, community assistance during natural disasters, charitable activities.

How did the night go for the Purtill Group representatives?
The event culminated with a Gala Awards night with representation from every fuel competitor, plenty of illustrious dignitaries and a who’s who of celebrities.

The Ampol Distributor partners were well and truly over-represented as finalists in every category. With what can only be described as the ultimate reward for effort, the following three family run businesses scooped the prize pool with the three major gongs at the event.

In their 50th year with Ampol, Neville Purtill of the Purtill Group accepted the prestigious Marg Taylor Award in recognition for the enormous contribution Purtills provide to the communities in which they operate.

Neville spoke kindly and humbly about the role his parents and his family have played and he gracefully acknowledged the partnership with Ampol as a foundation of that mutual desire to serve the community.

“These awards are a tribute to the Ampol Distributors and the Ampol team who partner with them. The awards are designed to honour businesses demonstrating exceptional commitment to operational excellence and community service. We’re so proud of our partners and their achievements!

For all the Ampol support teams who interact and support the end customer sale with these Ampol partners, I thank you on behalf of my team for contributing to these great achievements.”

Mark McKenzie, Chief Executive Officer, Australasian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association,  said, “The fact that you – and all family distributor businesses like yours – do what you do without seeking recognition is the very reason to give it.  It is a well deserved award.”
