New consolidated mental health resources for buisnesses, employers and the general public have been released, as the cloud of COVID-19 continues to swirl around us. Bringing together State and Federal programs, support and resources theses consolidated guides and webpages serve as a one stop shop for employers to understand and access the support that is available.
It’s been a tough time for business owners and their employees, and there will be challenges ahead as we work to re-open our economy and adjust to the ‘new normal’ of living with this virus. Looking after each other, including by promoting and maintaining good mental health and wellbeing during COVID-19, will continue to be a priority.
To that end, the Government is keen to ensure that business owners are aware of the range of government assistance and advice available to assist them and their employees. The fact sheet available online is a comprehensive resource outlining the mental health services available from the Australian Government.
Resources that are of particular use to business owners include:
- The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources’ Ahead for Business provides tailored resources, peer support, check-ups and personalised action plans. It also showcases the experiences of small business owners through podcasts, videos, blogs and case studies.
- The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman’s My Business Health website pulls together a range of resources to give easy access to tools, templates and tips to manage stress and proactively engage with running your business.
- State and Territory resources, such as the Victorian Government’s Mental Health in Business website.
