ACAPMA CEO Mark McKenzie explored the realities behind petrol pricing with 3AW’s Tom Elliott as competition saw wide differences in petrol prices across Melbourne on Thursday.

While some outlets were offering around $1.85 per litre, other customers were being slugged over $2.20 per litre depending on where the petrol station was.

“This is the petrol price cycle now moving,” he said on 3AW Drive.

“If we follow the usual cycle practice, you’ll see the (price of petrol) at a vast majority of service stations will go up in the next four or five days. There’s bargains out there.”
