Russell Dupuy, SVP Global Wetstock for TitanCloud, has announced his retirement after 34 years of providing expertise, support and leadership to the Australian and international petroleum industry.

Commencing in the industry as a Technical Director for VR international in the late 1980s Russell then moved to a BDM role for Veeder Root in 2001.

In 2003 Russell branched out on his own, operating both Environmental Monitoring Solutions (EMS) amd Fairbanks Environmental.

For many years Russell was a ‘go to’ in the industry for expert advice on all things UPSS compliance and wetstock management.

“Russell was a great resource for those of us of a less than technical nature.  He would always take the call and explain, using small words and a lot of patience, the finer points of what is a complex and hidden system.  He leaves a legacy of professionals who have been informed and nurtured by his open approach”, commented ACAPMAs Elisha Radwanowski.

As the head of EMS Russell also stepped up when the petroleum industry needed leadership in the contractor space, serving first as the President of the Petroleum Contractor Association and then later as the Chair of the ACAPMA Equipment and Service Council.

“Russell was the Chair of the Council at a time of great change in the contractor space.  He provided guidance and championed the development and roll out of the National Petroleum Contractor Recognition Scheme in 2015 and continues to be a vocal advocate working with ACAPMA on developing recognition, standardisation and professional learning pathways for petroleum contractors in Australia.  His contribution to the progress in this space cannot be underestimated”, said ACAPMA CEO Mark McKenzie.

In announcing his retirement Russell focused on the relationships developed and the work finished “This has given me pause to consider my 34 years within the Petroleum Industry in a number of capacities and positions over this time, however, what I cherish most is the people I have had the pleasure and privilege to work alongside, who are many”.

Russell also took the opportunity to thank some people critical to his longevity and success, “There are too many to thank, however, I would like to sincerely thank Erica, Shelley, Anna, Ben, Vanessa and Dave who believed in and supported me through thick and thin since the beginning of EMS in 2004 – from the heart thank you. Last and certainly not least, my deep gratitude to my amazing wife Michelle, whom without her belief in and support of me over the longest time, EMS would not have become a thriving business that caught the eye of Titan.”

ACAPMA understands that Russell will cease official duties at the end of December 2024 but will remain on at TitanCloud in a non-executive director capacity until the end of February 2025 to facilitate a smooth transition.

Russell has made a significant contribution to the knowledge base, professionalism and camaraderie of the industry in Australia and ACAPMA wishes him all the best in a well deserved retirement.
